The German Jordanian University (GJU) participated in the first planning workshop for the German Energy Academy project in Jordan. This was a key step in formulating strategic directions to serve the academy's objectives, which include supporting the national energy transition by enhancing technical training, building local capacities, and developing a new generation of specialists in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The workshop brought together, in addition to GJU, representatives from GIZ, and partners; Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), the German Solar Association (BSW), and Ideas into Energy (IIE).
The two-day workshop included several sessions that presented the project's background, key achievements, and challenges, as well as a review of the desired goals and aspirations.
The workshop also included focused sub-sessions that addressed key topics such as roles and responsibilities, legal frameworks, communication and digitization strategies, business planning, training schedules, and training program development.
The project director at GJU and faculty member in the School of Natural Resources and Management (SNREM), Prof. Aiman Albatayneh pointed out the importance of participating in the workshop as a valuable opportunity to coordinate visions and map plans with the participation of partners to transform these visions into effective results.
GJU was represented at the workshop by Prof. Iyas Khader, Vice President for Academic Excellence, Prof. Aiman Albatayneh, Prof. Mustafa Jaradat and Mrs Amani Alrosan.
The project is part of the broader Jordanian German Energy Partnership in cooperation with Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
The Academy is supported by the German government through funding from the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and implemented by GIZ.
