As part of the activities of German Week 2025, the Center for e-Learning and Academic Performance Improvement (CeLAPI) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) played a pivotal role in advancing the university’s strategic digital transformation through its active participation in the Online GATE initiative.

This cross-border educational initiative is implemented in collaboration with the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS), and supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under the framework of transnational education.

The center participated in a specialized workshop addressing digital transformation mechanisms, delivered by experts from THWS. The workshop targeted instructors of the pre-year programs within Online GATE and content designers, aiming to unify instructional design standards, integrate digital platforms, and apply modular course structures specifically designed for fully online education.

The center also organized an intensive training session that brought together CeLAPI staff and the THWS team to implement advanced educational technologies. These included modern tools such as MARP for content organization, articulate 360 for creating interactive modules, HeyGen for AI-powered visual narration, and H5P for developing interactive learning activities. These tools were piloted to empower faculty members with the skills and resources needed to deliver scalable, high-quality digital education consistent with the Online GATE teaching model.

CeLAPI's activities during German Week culminated in producing introductory videos for the pre-year courses, in cooperation with THWS. In these videos, instructors presented concise overviews of the course content based on pre-prepared scripts, as part of the onboarding strategy for new students joining the program.

The pre-year program in Online GATE includes two academic tracks: a Bachelor of Engineering in “Engineering Science / Industrial and Systems Engineering,” and a Bachelor of Science in “Health and Environmental Psychology.” This fully online program aims to provide accredited access to German higher education for international and crisis-affected learners and pave the way for their continuation into undergraduate studies.

This participation reflects CeLAPI’s efforts in embodying the vision of GJU to deliver inclusive, advanced digital education and to establish its position as a leading regional center for transnational online education.
