German Lounge / Dialogpunkt
Cooperation Between German Jordanien University and Goethe-Institut

On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, the German Jordanian University (GJU) and the Goethe-Institut (GI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for cooperation and coordination between the two parties to organize the activities inside the Dialogpunkt (DP).

The DP is located at the German Lounge (GL) in the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) in the Jabal Amman campus as a platform for German language and cultural activities, where it is intended to be utilized by GJU students, everyone else interested in Germany, its language and culture as well as in intercultural exchange in general. In addition to German visitors, volunteers, and professionals.

The GL/DP is a special form of cooperation between the Goethe-Institut and the German-Jordanian University that is meant to provide an open, interactive, and creative space for educational and intercultural exchange as well as being a complementary hub for the activities of the Goethe-Institut. It is designed particularly to invite young people to better get to know Germany, its language, and its culture by providing free access to information, as well as educational and cultural activities.

The German Lounge – Dialogpunkt held various events and activities since then, in collaboration with a number of local artists and institutes, aiming to better integrate the public (and GJU students alike) in the art and design scene in Amman.

The Events included a number of indoor and outdoor photography exhibitions, digital art competitions, film screenings, a series of architectural and design lectures, Ramadan Iftars in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus, and a Bauhaus VR experience.
