Amman-14 April , 2015

GJU held its 5th annual Job Fair on April 15th 2015. The Fair enabled GJU students and graduates to connect with more than 55 Jordanian and regional companies from a variety of sectors.

Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid, the President of GJU, Dr. Manar Fayyad, the Vice President of GJU, and a number of faculty members also visited GJU Job Fair. They expressed their hope that such events would facilitate the student’s journey towards careers, and provide for better collaborations between the university and the industry.

Connect, inspire, hire

Whether hoping to find a fresh start after graduation, find a better job, or completely change their career paths, the fair was open to students and graduates of the German Jordanian University alike. The fair was an eye opener to many students, guiding them to the path they always envisioned themselves going, yet sometimes guiding them towards doors they never thought were career options.

Our new exhibition space contributed to a lively and energetic job fair atmosphere with potential future employers in close proximity to each other. Students and graduates had the opportunity to directly network with relevant company representatives. They received immediate feedback on many topics, from information on internships and jobs to possible career paths.

The companies also benefited greatly from GJU Job Fair. With the chance to easily and directly recruit on-campus. The annual event also highlighted GJUs’ strong commitment to enhancing the university-industry cooperation.

“An excellent opportunity to learn more about the job market.”

Going further – entrepreneurship and presentations

For the first time, a whole floor was dedicated to entrepreneurship, as GJU is deeply committed to connecting students with young startups and entrepreneur support organizations. On this floor, students and graduates were inspired to build their own business, and were offered assistance in doing so; The Program Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) of the GJU was providing guidance to the students, putting them on the path to success.

“It was a pleasure for us to be with GJU at job fair day.”

Attending company

GJU Job Fair 2015 not only supported students and companies in connecting, but also allowed companies to present at the fair. Our partners Akhtaboot and bayt.com presented on important career skills. Around a dozen other companies presented themselves as a potential employer in lectures which fit their company profiles. Both company representatives and students considered the presentations very motivating.

My success as an educator is not measured by my class grade point average; it is expressed by the number of students that I help in leading to their careers.”

GJU working to connect the best of both worlds

The 5th GJU Job Fair 2015 was organized by the Office for Industrial Links (OIL) of GJU. OIL connects the university with the industry on many different levels. Our activities include providing career service and guidance for our students and graduates, recruitment services for our national and international industry partners as well as connecting the GJU faculty with possible project partners. This job fair is one such activity which has grown into an annual event.

OIL would not have been able to organize the GJU Job Fair without the gracious support of the Career Guidance Office of the King Abdullah II Fund at GJU, the colleagues of the Communication and Public Relations as well as Service Departments, our student assistants and the colleagues of the different study departments. They all contributed to this highly successful event.
