Amman- 4 October 2017

On Monday the 2nd of October 2017, under the patronage of the President of German Jordanian University (GJU) Prof. Manar Fayyad, the Information Systems and Technology Center (ISTC) launched the new Course Portfolio feature in the "MyGJU" portal accessible from the university’s official website.

The main objective of the new feature is to manage course portfolios in "MyGJU" for archiving, reuse, quality assurance (QA), and accreditation purposes. The course portfolios can be edited and approved by faculty members and schools respectively, while both students and instructors may view their respective course portfolios.

At the presentation Director of the ISTC Dr. Feras Al-Hawari  and  Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Department Dr. Anas Atieh explained the current features and scopes besides the roles that faculty members can conduct.

Dr. Al-Hawari presented the extra benefits of developing the feature saying that it could be considered as a step toward a basic E-Learning platform, since it encourages students to log in to "MyGJU" constantly and use the feature to access the materials published by the instructors on a weekly basis, mentioning that it also supports the departments’ future accreditation profiles and QA at GJU.

The system included six main areas that were developed after comprehensive research to match regional and international Quality Assurance and Accreditation standards, which are: Course Description, Course Objectives, Course References, Course Learning Outcomes, Exam Assessments and Course Weekly Schedules.

It is also worth noting that the system was designed and developed by Dr. Feras Al-Hawari as well as Eng. Hala Barham and Eng. Mai Alshawabkeh.
