About Dual Study

“Dual Study” is a global educational concept that aims to integrate the theoretical knowledge with the practical implementation in close cooperation with industrial partners. Students work and study at the same time. It is a reaction to two challenges: How to raise employability of university graduates and how to provide the labor market with qualified employees who possess sound skills in practice and theory. Students may join the dual study track within the B.Sc. programs in computer engineering and computer science.

A dual study track includes three extensive practical phases (12 weeks each) conducted at a local company during the first three summer semesters of the track. In this track, academic and vocational training are integrated and take place at two locations: a university and a company. Content of the academic part is exactly the same concerning the level and quality of the taught courses and roughly the same concerning the quantity of academic courses. What the students do while working in a partner company is aligned with their academic studies, in other words students apply their knowledge right away and become familiar with the real life work environment already during the program.

After graduating, students will have a valuable work experience reflecting their academic specialization. Hence, dual study students will have excellent career prospects after graduating. Often they will have the opportunity to directly get a related job at the same partner company.
