The innovative “Jusoor – AI-Powered Sign Language Translator” project developed by students at the German Jordanian University (GJU) has qualified for the Bootcamp stage of the 11th annual Hakeem Academy Annual Competition (HAAC 2026), organized by Hakeem Academy, one of the initiatives of Electronic Health Solutions (EHS).

The project idea was developed by Rama Salem, a student at the School of Nursing (SN), and Lujain Al-Ltaifeh, a student majoring in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering at the School of Applied Medical Sciences (SAMS), under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Al-Sadi from the School of Nursing at GJU.

“Jusoor” aims to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to translate sign language into understandable content, facilitating communication and improving access to information and services, particularly in the healthcare sector. The project supports effective communication between sign language users and healthcare providers, contributing to more inclusive and higher-quality healthcare services. It also highlights the value of interdisciplinary collaboration by bringing together nursing, engineering, and AI to develop technology-driven solutions with tangible health and social impact based on real-world needs.

Qualifying for the Bootcamp represents an important step in the development of “Jusoor,” providing the students with an opportunity to refine their idea, strengthen their innovation and entrepreneurship skills, and benefit from specialized training and mentorship to further develop the project and transform it into a scalable and applicable technological solution.
