Dr. Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, the President of the German Jordanian University, inaugurated the Research Project Site for Smart and Sustainable Agricultural, which is affiliated with the School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management at the University.

During the inauguration, the Dean of the School and the Principal Researcher of the Project, Dr. Qasem Abdelal, provided a detailed briefing on the techniques of water agriculture and the use of smart agricultural technology to reduce water and energy resources.

Dr. Abdelal pointed out during the briefing that the technology products used were locally developed by a team led by Engineer Gaith Al-Shishani. This development contributed to reducing the cost of using agricultural technology, making agricultural systems accessible to both small and large farmers.

Dr. Ayman Batainah and Dr. Mustafa Jradat, Project members, also presented an overview of the next phase of the project, which includes the development of an efficient system for extracting moisture from the air, with low energy consumption. This model makes it a unique integration of environment, energy, and agriculture.

Dr. Al-Halhouli expressed his admiration for the level reached by the studies and instructed to expand the experiment on a larger scale to ensure the economic effectiveness of these systems. He also commended the initiative as part of the German Jordanian University's efforts to lead in the field of sustainability within the University campus and the local community.
