Faculty member Prof. Arwa Abdelhay, from the School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management (SNREM) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), was elected as the representative of the Middle East and North Africa region for a period of three years in the Global Steering Committee of the Sustainability Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA). It is the first time such a committee is formed and elected in the history of the Alliance. The committee includes representatives from seven regions of the world.
The SuSanA is a network that was established in 2007 and hosted by the German International Cooperation Agency GIZ and serves as a platform for collaborative work between the network's partners, which number more than 350 organizations and institutions distributed in countries of the world, and between specialists and experts to support innovative ideas. The network also contributes to supporting policy dialogue through joint initiatives. The elected Global Steering Committee is the Alliance's primary decision-making body and governance tool and is responsible for ensuring the optimal strategic and financial performance of the Alliance.
