A student delegation from the German Jordanian University (GJU) visited the Baynouna Solar Power Plant in the Muwaqqar, in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. This field trip was organized as part of the Green Logistics Services course at the Business School, taught by faculty member Dr. Hassan Younes.
During the visit, students were briefed through a presentation by Engineer Mohammed Al Jitawi, the Director of Prevention and Safety at Source Company for Specialized Technical Services, the company that owns the station. They learned about the significance of the project, the largest in the region, covering an area of six thousand dunums and consisting of around 700,000 panels generating 200 megawatts of electricity, sufficient to power 160,000 homes.
The students also toured the control room and were introduced to the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, which monitors and controls the panels and tracks the amount of energy produced. Engineer Hazem Al Swaair, the Director of Operations and Maintenance, demonstrated how the system operates and how the produced energy is exported to the national grid.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Younes expressed gratitude to the team from Source Company for Specialized Technical Services, who welcomed the delegation and expressed their eagerness for further collaboration between the university and the company.
