The German Jordanian University (GJU), through its School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management (SNREM), has officially launched a Higher Diploma Program in Civil Engineering Technology. The announcement took place in the presence of Engineer Ahmed Samara Al-Zubi, President of the Syndicate of Engineers, along with various stakeholders. The program is set to welcome its first cohort in the upcoming academic year.
During the launch ceremony, Eng. Al-Zubi highlighted the syndicate's provision of 213,000 training opportunities in diverse fields and its accreditation by over 14 regional and international bodies. He noted that the Academy of Engineers serves as a training hub for the Middle East, recognized by the International Federation of Engineers (FIDIC). Additionally, he discussed a program aimed at equipping engineers for the German job market, which has successfully placed several professionals in Germany.
Vice President Prof. Malek Alsharairi emphasized that the new program is designed to enhance graduates' skills in modern technologies, improving their employability and competitive edge in the job market. He added that the curriculum aims to meet the evolving needs of local, regional, and international labor markets, equipping students with the necessary technical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
Dr. Qassim Abdel Aal, Dean of the School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management (SNREM), remarked on the program's potential to elevate skills in the civil engineering sector, especially amidst increasing graduate numbers and limited opportunities. The ceremony featured a presentation by Dr. Imhidi Al-Gharaibeh outlining the program's objectives and curriculum, along with a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Omar Al-Batayneh, featuring industry experts Eng. Anis Al-Shatnawi, Dr. Omar Al-Qudah, and Eng. Nimer Al-Bitar.
