The School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management (SNREM) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) held the first workshop within the framework of its initiative titled "Promoting Recycling and the Circular Economy in Jordan". The event was conducted under the title: "Workshop on Solid Waste Recycling: Sustainable Solutions for a Greener Future", and was presented by Dr. Ya'coub Al-Khasawneh, a faculty member at the School.

The workshop took place at the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH), with the presence of its dean, Dr. Nidal Alshwawreh, and included the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, in addition to faculty members and students from the university, along with specialists from the private sector and members of the local community.

The workshop featured interactive sessions that addressed a variety of topics on sustainable waste management and advancing the circular economy in Jordan. Core themes included case studies from the circular economy model in Germany, showcasing successful waste management experiences and innovative solutions. The discussions also covered local challenges and opportunities in the recycling sector, strategies for its development in Jordan, and an exchange of perspectives on applying best German practices within the Jordanian context, contributing to both environmental and economic sustainability.

This event was organized within the context of strengthening collaboration between academia, government, and the industrial sector, as part of a series of activities aimed at raising environmental awareness and supporting innovation in recycling solutions. The initiative will include future workshops and pilot activities aimed at building a greener, more circular future.
