The German Jordanian University (GJU) through its School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT), organized an IT Hackathon as part of the German Week activities. This event celebrated the 78th Independence Day of the Kingdom and the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne.
The hackathon included two main tracks: problem-solving and application development. In the problem-solving track, five teams composed of fifteen students were tasked with completing various programming assignments within a limited time. The application development track saw the participation of six teams made up of twenty-six students, who presented their developed applications before an audience of students and faculty members. Each attendee had the opportunity to evaluate the participating teams.
The first place in the problem-solving track was awarded to the students Omar Al-Tabari, Mohamed Al-Jamal, Amer Al-Jabri, and Sultan Abu Lamdi Al-Masrawa. In the application development track, the first place went to the students Abdulrahman Bashar Ubaid, Ahmed Nashat Mahmoud, Hazem Arar, and Yousef Raed Al-Dahouk.
At the end of the event, University President Prof. Dr. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, along with Prof. Dr. Manuela Schwartz, President of Magdeburg University, and Prof Dr. Firas Al-Hawari, Dean of SEEIT, distributed awards and certificates of appreciation to the winning teams and all participants, in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the competition.
The hackathon was organized by a team of distinguished academics, including Dr. Dia Abu Tair, Dr. Rana Al-Mahmoud, Dr. Amani Abu Jabal, Dr. Nadia Al-Rousan, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sarayreh, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Farraja.
