Students from The department of logistic sciences at the Business School (BS) at German Jordanian University (GJU) conducted a field visit to the Jordan branch of Backaldrin International – The Kornspitz Company, located at its production facility in Amman. The visit was part of the Warehouse Management course and was supervised by Dr. Hassan Younis. This visit provided a valuable educational experience that supported the theoretical concepts students had learned in the course.

Backaldrin is a global leader in developing innovative concepts and high-quality ingredients for the food industry, serving over 100 countries through a global network of production sites and distributors. The Jordan branch is one of the eight production centers operated by the company worldwide.

The visit began with an introductory presentation about the company, which provided a comprehensive overview of the working environment. This was followed by a field tour during which the students were introduced to various storage solutions and the equipment used in material handling, such as manual pallet jacks and forklifts. The tour also included familiarization with types of pallets, packaging methods, and labeling systems, as well as an explanation of inventory management policies, especially the FIFO policy, and an overview of the Warehouse Management System (WMS). The visit concluded with observing receiving and dispatch operations, along with exploring applications of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.

Dr. Younes expressed his sincere gratitude to the Backaldrin team for their warm reception and the rich content they provided to the students. The visit allowed students to connect academic knowledge with practical application in a real industrial environment, aligning with the university’s vision of applied education that meets labor market needs.
