The Ministry of Education and the German Jordanian University (GJU) signed two Memorandums of Understanding in the field of vision rehabilitation for students with visual disabilities and research, training, and awareness in the areas of developing and improving traffic safety.
The MoUs were signed by the Minister, Dr. Azmy Mahaftha, on behalf of the Ministry and by the President of GJU, Dr. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli.
The first MoU aimed to achieve cooperation in vision rehabilitation for students with disabilities, teacher training, community awareness, and joint projects to provide an inclusive environment and appropriate training opportunities for people with visual disabilities to integrate them into society.
According to the MoU, the Ministry will transfer students with visual disabilities to the Vision Rehabilitation Center (VRC) at the university to conduct a comprehensive assessment of visual functions and provide the necessary visual aids, if available.
The second MoU aimed at cooperation in research, training, and awareness in the areas of developing and improving traffic safety, it stated that the Ministry will approve the results of the applied research conducted by the center related to improving traffic safety in Jordan after it has been approved by both parties through the Policy Development Directorate, starting from selecting the topic until presenting the results.
