The German Jordanian University (GJU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OLITEC to establish a framework for joint cooperation in developing a smart agriculture project that combines protected and open-field farming. The initiative aims to leverage modern technologies to advance agricultural practices and promote innovation in the sector.

The first phase of the collaboration will focus on establishing a smart greenhouse on the university campus, equipped with modern agricultural technologies. The greenhouse will serve as the foundation for an applied project that will enable the expansion of future cooperation and the development of technological solutions to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.

The project also aims to build specialized academic and research capacity in smart agriculture by providing training opportunities for students and faculty members and incorporating the project into graduation projects, postgraduate research, and applied scientific studies. This will create an educational and practical environment that bridges theoretical knowledge with real-world application while keeping pace with technological advancements in the agricultural sector.

This collaboration forms part of the German Jordanian University's commitment to strengthening its partnerships with the private sector and expanding cooperation with companies and industrial institutions. It further reinforces the university's role in connecting scientific research with practical application, consolidating its position as a platform for collaboration between academia and industry, and developing innovative solutions that meet the needs of the labor market and society.
