A group of Biomedical Engineering students from the German Jordanian University (GJU) participated in the international workshop titled "Bridging Borders: German Perspectives of Medical Engineering", hosted by the University of Stuttgart under the supervision of Prof. Rafat Alwaked and Dr. Jumana Ma’touq.
This workshop is part of MEDiTech 2025: Medical Engineering Technology and Innovation, a collaborative project conducted in partnership with the University of Stuttgart and supported by funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). MEDiTech 2025 aims to enhance sustainable cooperation and knowledge exchange between academia and industry, focusing on the design and development of medical technologies that improve quality of life.
The workshop provided GJU students with a unique opportunity to engage in academic and practical activities alongside German peers and faculty. The program included lectures on topics such as Computational Fluid Dynamics in drug delivery, EMG signal measurement, ethical implications in clinical studies, and medical device interface design; hands-on practical sessions, including EMG signal measurement labs; career development tutorials, and industry visits to a leading German medical engineering company, and tours of the University of Stuttgart’s Maker Space and ARENA 2036.
The workshop also featured networking events, campus tours, and cultural exchanges, fostering collaboration among students, faculty, and researchers from diverse backgrounds. A farewell evening concluded the program, celebrating the successful exchange and shared learning experiences.
GJU remains committed to fostering academic excellence and providing meaningful international exposure to equip its students for a successful future.
Lastly, we extend our sincere gratitude to the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for funding this enriching experience. We also thank the University of Stuttgart for hosting our students and providing an inspiring and collaborative learning environment.
