The German Jordanian University (GJU), represented by its Business School, in collaboration with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, organized an academic lecture titled “Supply Chain Management,” featuring Prof. Hossam Al-Shammari of the University of Pennsylvania, Prof. Ali Al-Diabat of New York University Abu Dhabi, and Dr. Mohammad Al-Ghababsheh of Mutah University, recipient of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers for 2026.
In his welcoming remarks, Dean of the Business School, Dr. Bassam Maali, welcomed the speakers and highlighted GJU’s pioneering role in teaching logistics sciences in Jordan since 2005. He also noted the University's establishment of Jordan's first Master's program in Logistics Management in 2016, in addition to offering a Dual Study Track that enables students to combine academic studies with practical training in Germany.
The lecture addressed key trends and challenges in global supply chain management, focusing on social responsibility and working conditions among suppliers, as well as challenges related to workers' rights and child labor. It also explored the practices companies adopt to monitor supplier performance and address social violations, including supplier selection based on specific criteria, certification programs, auditing processes, and collaboration with suppliers.
The lecture was organized as part of the ongoing collaboration between GJU and the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, reflecting both institutions' commitment to strengthening ties between academic and research communities and providing students and researchers with opportunities to benefit from specialized expertise and stay informed about the latest developments across various fields.
