The Arabic Language and Culture Center (ALCC) at The German Jordanian University (GJU), in collaboration with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, organized a scientific lecture titled "Artificial Intelligence and the Arabic Language". The lecture was presented by the winners of the Arab Researchers Award for the 43rd session of 2025: Prof. Mohammed Abdel Majeed from The University of British Columbia – Canada, and Prof. Ghassan Mourad, an expert from The Lebanese University – Lebanon. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Haytham Althawabih, the Center’s director, Ms. Khalida Radaideh, along with a wide presence of academic and administrative staff and university students.

At the beginning of the lecture, the speakers pointed to the rapid transformations witnessed worldwide in the field of artificial intelligence, emphasizing the importance of empowering the Arabic language to be a key player in this digital revolution.

They also clarified that Arabic is not merely a means of communication but represents a vessel of identity, culture, and human knowledge, and that its strong presence in AI technologies guarantees the sustainability of the Arab cultural heritage in the digital future.

Prof. Mohammed Abdel Majeed and Prof. Ghassan Mourad discussed the most prominent research experiences and technical initiatives aiming to develop natural language processing tools, enhance Arabic content on digital platforms, and enable future generations to innovate and create in their mother tongue.

At the conclusion of the lecture, an open discussion took place between the audience and the speakers about ways to build smart digital systems that support the Arabic language and restore its leading position among the world’s languages in the age of knowledge and technology.
