Students of the Department of Design and Visual Communication at the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) won eight prizes in the Arab StarPack Student 2022 competition in Jordan, which is organized annually by the Lebanese Center for Packaging “Libanpack” and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for university students in Arab countries.
For the structural packaging category students Zain Abuirshaid won first place, Raghad Sobh won second place, and Maryam Al Shaer won the third under the supervision of Arch. Rawan Majzoub, while student Tina Safadi won third place and was supervised by Prof. Ziyad Haddad.
As for the visual packaging category, student Nataly Zagha won first place, and student Massa Khurma won third place. On the other hand, the student Toleen Kirresh won first place, and the student Mariam Al Shaer won second place for save the food category under the supervision of the Arch. Rawan Majzoub as well.
It is noteworthy that the competition aims to promote creativity and innovation in packaging, involve young people in comprehensive and sustainable industrial development, and provide them with a valuable opportunity to express their creativity and develop packaging for their national products. Nine countries participated in the competition, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia, Morocco, Oman, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside Jordan.
