A group of students from the Robotics Club at the German Jordanian University won third place in the fourth edition of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, organized by the STEAM Center and the Arab Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Association.
The student project — developed by Leen Al-Fityani, Tala Al-Fityani, Karmel Al-Qawasmi, Hazem Al-Salhi, Mohannad Khader, Abdullah Al-Majali, and Ahmad Abu Ajamieh, under the supervision of Dr. Mutaz Ryalat, the club advisor — focused on building an integrated artificial intelligence system for disaster response.
The system combines risk prediction through heatmaps based on population density, damage detection using advanced computer vision models, and the analysis of emergency tweets to determine response priorities — all aimed at enhancing the speed and accuracy of disaster response operations.
The GJU family extends its heartfelt congratulations on this outstanding achievement, expressing its pride in its students and their supervisor, and wishing them continued success in the fields of innovation and excellence.
