The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, H.E. Mr. Omar Al-Barzanji, visited the German Jordanian University (GJU), accompanied by the Cultural Attaché, Dr. Khair Al-Din Al-Amin, and a number of embassy staff. They were received by GJU President, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, as part of efforts to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, attended by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, the Vice Dean, Dr. Ghaith Al-Rifai, and representatives of Iraqi students at the university, discussions focused on enhancing joint cooperation, particularly regarding Iraqi students enrolled at GJU, as well as developing academic programs and cultural exchange.

Prof. Al-Halhouli emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting international students, especially Iraqi students, by providing an integrated academic environment that enriches their educational and cultural experience. He also highlighted GJU’s continuous efforts to expand its international programs, attract students from diverse nationalities, and further develop services that enhance the overall student experience.

For his part, the Iraqi Ambassador expressed appreciation for the university’s role in hosting Iraqi students, commending its advanced academic standards. He affirmed the embassy’s commitment to strengthening cooperation, supporting Iraqi students, and following up on their academic and social affairs in Jordan.

The visit included a field tour of the university campus, where the delegation visited several specialized laboratories, as well as the Technology, Research and Innovation Complex and the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship. The delegation was briefed on key student-led entrepreneurial and innovative projects, and the university’s role in fostering an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship.

At the conclusion of the visit, both sides stressed the importance of maintaining coordination and communication to enhance future cooperation, serve students’ interests, and further develop academic relations between the two brotherly countries.
