In a new milestone in its journey of excellence, the experimental documentary film " A subconscious Dive ", one of the graduation projects of the first cohort of the Jordan Cinema Academy (JCA) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), established in partnership with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan, has been shortlisted for the 53rd edition of the Student Academy Awards.

The selection was made from 2,972 international submissions, with only 61 films being shortlisted, placing the work among the top 2% of student film productions worldwide, underscoring the quality and uniqueness of its creative approach.

The film is written and directed by Raghad Al-Bakheet and produced by Daniel Salman. It offers a visual journey that blends documentary and experimental storytelling through a hypnosis therapy session that reshapes memory within the realm of the subconscious mind.

This achievement reflects the success of the applied cinematic education model adopted by the Academy, which prepares a new generation of filmmakers capable of competing globally by integrating training with real production experience.

In this context, the President of GJU, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, emphasized that this achievement embodies the University’s vision of supporting creativity and innovation in cultural and creative fields. He also highlighted the success of the strategic partnership with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan in establishing a specialized educational platform that empowers youth and refines their skills according to the highest international standards, noting that student works reaching prestigious global platforms are the result of investing in applied education and linking knowledge with real production.

GJU proudly highlights its partnership with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan in establishing the Academy, which is based at GJU – Jabal Amman campus. The Academy offers an intensive diploma program combining theoretical study and practical training, aimed at nurturing talent and strengthening the film industry in Jordan and the region, while awarding an accredited certificate from the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission.

It is worth noting that the Student Academy Awards is one of the most prestigious global platforms for film students, serving as a gateway to professional pathways that have historically led to the Academy Awards (Oscars). The 53rd edition ceremony will be held in Toronto, Canada, on September 14.
