The 22nd International Conference on Research and Education in Mechatronics (REM 2024) has officially commenced at the Conference Palace at the Dead Sea. Organized by the German Jordanian University (GJU) in partnership with the German Mechatronics Society and supported by the Electrical and Electronics Engineers Complex – Jordan Branch, the conference welcomes experts from around the world.

Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the German Jordanian University, expressed pride in hosting this prestigious event, which has been a leader in the field since 1999. He noted the strong interest in this year's conference, reflecting the increasing global significance of research and education in mechatronics, with contributions from 16 university students representing the future of engineering and research.

Dr. Hisham Al-Interim, Chairman of the Conference Preparatory Committee, highlighted that this is the second time REM is being held in the Middle East, featuring participation from 270 researchers across 26 countries. The conference will showcase 69 accepted research papers addressing critical topics, including artificial intelligence, robotics, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Dr. Musa Al-Akhras, President of the German Mechatronics Society and the Academy of Engineers, underscored the importance of organizing REM in Jordan.

In conjunction with the conference, the fifth edition of the Firefighting Robotics Competition took place, organized by the Robotics and Automation Unit at the Electrical and Electronic Engineers Complex, with participation from 94 students across 15 universities.
