On Saturday, 7th of April the Road Safety Center of Excellence (RSCE) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) held its second event in the seminar series “Towards Safe and Sustainable Roads".

The seminar took place at Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC, KHBP). The RSCE hosted two distinguished guest speakers, Dr. Bahaa Alshalalfah, the director of Transport and Infrastructure Department at SETS International and Arch. Kamal Jalouqa, one of the most experienced urban planners in Jordan and an industrial professor at the School of Architecture and Built Environment at GJU.​

At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Alshalafah talked about traffic management during the construction of mega infrastructure project by presenting the company's work in this field during the construction of AlRiyadh Metro Project . Dr. Alshalafah showed the innovative solutions that the company implemented in this project to insure smooth mobility for the road users where construction works are taking place.

The second part of the Seminar was presented by Arch. Kamal Jalouqa, who started his talk by explaining the concepts of mobility, smart mobility and smart transportation systems. Afterwards Arch Jalouqa presented the transport studies for Greater Amman which were carried out between 1987 and 2010. The lecture was followed by discussing whether the city of Amman can be a smart city with smart and sustainable transport system in the future.

It is worth mentioning that this monthly public event is held on the first Saturday of every month. It is intended to form the climax of an important series of informative meetings where the participants will be able to share experiences, learn from each other about the latest innovative technologies in the field of traffic and transportation and the chances for creating safer and more sustainable roads. This platform will also enable the participants to strengthen contacts with their peers.
