The School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) – Jabal Amman Campus - hosted high school students to a Talk entitled “Introducing Design and Media Informatics” as a joint degree between the SABE with the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT).

The new Design and Media Informatics BA program is a synergy and integration between design and software development skills. It deals with the conception, development, implementation, and operation of software systems for the production, distribution, and use of digital media.

The knowledge and experience gained in the program prepares students for a visually literate future, aimed at practical professional skills in the following areas: software engineering, UX/UI design, mobile & web application development, database design, algorithms, media-oriented software applications, graphics design, computer animation, virtual/augmented reality, interactive games, typography, photography, illustration, film production, as well as art direction.

Three professors from our partner German universities participated in the talk as follows: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rainer Herpers from the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Paul Grimm from the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Jan-Torsten Milde from the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. The guest professors are experts in various IT and computer science areas such as Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, and Multimedia Applications; Software Design and Architecture of Expanded Realities and 3D Game-Engines; as well as Media IT and Web Technologies.

Additionally, Prof. Feras Al-Hawari the Dean of the SEEIT, Dr. Maram Tawil the Dean of the SABE, and Dr. Dhiah Abou-Tair from the computer science department in the SEEIT introduced the students regarding the GJU German dimension, schools, majors, dual studies tracks, and industrial relations. Furthermore, the teaching assistants in the SEEIT shared several brochures about the school offerings with the students, while the International Office (IO) staff shared information with our guests regarding the German year.

After the Talk, the students took a tour around the campus to get to know the location and the school facilities, including the German Lounge.

The Talk was part of the German weeks which take place starting the 12th of May until the 26th of May at the German Jordanian University | SABE | Jabal Amman.
