The IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) under the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) recently organized a technical session in collaboration with SAGER Drones, focusing on the practical applications of drones and digital twin technologies. The session provided students with insights into how drones are currently used for mapping, inspections, and data collection, and how artificial intelligence (AI) transforms raw drone data into accurate 3D models and actionable insights.

Delivered by industry experts Tareq Al Masri and Omar Hourani, the session explored real-world use cases including infrastructure inspection, autonomous drone missions, and AI-based detection of defects such as cracks and structural damage. Designed as a hands-on and practice-oriented experience, the session targeted engineering and technology-interested students, offering them a closer look at cutting-edge tools and technologies shaping modern engineering and smart systems.
