The Visual Rehabilitation Center at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized the "People of High Determination" event on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Madar International Schools in the presence of the Director of VRC, Prof. Muhammad Hamed and the team.
This event aimed to raise awareness among society members about persons with disabilities and how to deal with them, understand the challenges, and contribute to solving and overcoming obstacles.
Dr. Hamed stated that the event directly intersects with the role of the VRC in serving all groups of society, especially people with disabilities and challenges, and the importance of integrating them into society, improving their quality of life, and increasing their active participation.
Moreover, he emphasized that the law guarantees the right to education without discrimination. Therefore, the school environment must be inclusive of all students, regardless of their diversity. He added that it is a powerful tool for developing the full potential of all members of society and promoting well-being, praising the experience of Madar International Schools as an example of successful integration experiences for students with various disabilities, including visual impairments, hoping that all schools in the Kingdom embrace this approach.
The visual rehabilitation specialist at the center, Maysa Masoud, gave a presentation and an activity aimed at a deeper understanding of visual impairment and its impact on the lives of people with visual impairment.
Furthermore, inaccurate information about visual impairment and its nature was corrected, and solutions were provided to teachers and attendees about the best and simplest ways to integrate students with visual impairments into the school environment. In addition, an activity was conducted with the audience using simulation glasses to understand the impact of visual impairment on students' performance in their daily tasks.
The Director General of Madar International Schools, Dr. Muhammad Abzakh, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the initiative of VRC in sponsoring the event and actively participating in awareness activities to serve the community in all its categories.
