Prof. Nizar Abu Jaber, Director of the Center for the Study of Natural and Cultural Heritage (CSNACH) at the German-Jordanian University (GJU), took part in a scientific symposium and Jordanian-Egyptian activities organized by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS-Jordan) in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. The event, titled "Disasters and Conflict through the Lens of the Venice Charter," was held under the patronage of the President of the Council, Her Royal Highness Princess Dana Firas. It featured a field visit to Ayn Ghazal and included both in-person and online seminars.
During the symposium, Prof. Abu Jaber delivered a presentation titled "A National Initiative to Protect and Valorize the Site of Ayn Ghazal, Jordan." In his talk, he explained the institutionalized national effort to preserve and revive the Ayn Ghazal heritage site. His discussion covered the site's context, importance, and significant features.
Prof. Abu Jaber also highlighted the challenges and dilemmas associated with prehistoric sites. He shared a design proposal for enhancing and marketing the Ayn Ghazal heritage site and addressed the complexities of valorizing cultural heritage at Ayn Ghazal.
