From August 5 to 29, I participated in a training course for German teachers at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.
The training is aimed at both experienced and prospective teachers and aimed to expand their didactic skills. It focused on the practical implementation of methodological approaches to teaching German.
We worked intensively on various methods and tips that can be used in GFL (German as a Foreign Language) lessons. The topics covered included the four basic language skills (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), handling mistakes, and organizing online lessons. Moreover, simulations were carried out to test the methods learned in practice. In addition to the methodological content, the multicultural and multilingual composition of the participants from Egypt, Spain, the USA, Chile, Croatia, Turkey, and Italy enabled a valuable exchange of different learning cultures, habits, and challenges. This new perspective will help me to better understand the students at GJU and to support their learning process in a more targeted way.
The training helped to improve the quality of my teaching and to promote innovative and varied approaches to my classes at the German Language Center (GLC) at GJU.
