Under the patronage of His Highness Prince Omar bin Faisal, President of the Jordanian Esports Federation, the German Jordanian University (GJU) took part in the first (FPV) Drone Racing event in the Kingdom.
The competition was organized by the Jordanian drone company HoverUp at the Dead Sea area, aiming to place Jordan on the map of technology-driven sports, establish drone racing as an institutionalized local activity, and position the Kingdom as a regional hub for innovation in this rapidly growing field.
The event was attended by GJU’s Vice President for Academic Excellence, Prof. Iyas Khader, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, and thirty students from various university schools and disciplines.
It is worth noting that the race featured 50 male and female participants selected from over 850 applicants, aged 14 and above, who competed in a two-stage contest that combined both virtual and real-world challenges.
