The German Jordanian University proudly participated in the Leader Championship Winter Sports Tournament for Jordanian universities, held in Aqaba under the patronage of the Minister of Youth and organized by the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation. The tournament was held in celebration of the birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in a vibrant national and sporting atmosphere that reflected strong values of belonging and loyalty.

The championship brought together 24 public and private universities, with nearly 500 male and female students competing in three main sports: football, basketball, and beach volleyball, in a well-organized and highly competitive environment.

The university’s basketball team delivered an outstanding performance, securing third place after a strong and commendable performance. GJU teams also demonstrated advanced performance and notable competitiveness in both football and beach volleyball, reaffirming the university’s strong athletic presence among participating institutions.

Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, Dean of Student Affairs, emphasized the Deanship’s ongoing commitment to supporting students and providing an encouraging environment that enables them to participate and excel in national events. She highlighted that university sports serve as a vital platform for developing skills, building confidence, and fostering teamwork, noting that this support played a key role in enabling GJU students to represent their university with pride and distinction.

This achievement reflects the importance the German Jordanian University places on extracurricular activities as an essential component of shaping well-rounded student personalities and promoting leadership, teamwork, and national belonging alongside academic excellence.
