The German Jordanian University (GJU) proudly announces its achievement of First Place in the “Urban Planning” category at the Gaza Reconstruction Competition. The winning project was presented by student Sara Rahahleh and Dr. Farah Al-Atrash.
Dr. Farah Al-Atrash emphasized that this achievement represents the culmination of distinguished academic efforts, reflecting the university’s firm commitment to advancing the concepts of sustainability and inclusive urban planning, and to linking academic knowledge with humanitarian issues and the concerns of the Arab nation.
The project went beyond conventional planning and design approaches, presenting an integrated vision that promotes resilience, dignity, and hope. It emphasizes that rebuilding Gaza is not limited to reconstructing physical structures, but also extends to restoring communities, identity, and humanity.
The Gaza Reconstruction Competition is an academic and educational initiative dedicated to reconstruction, planning, and design projects related to the Gaza Strip. It aims to support creativity and connect academic initiatives with urban development challenges within humanitarian crisis contexts.
