His Royal Highness Al Hussein bin Abdullah II visited the German Jordanian University (GJU), where he toured the Water 4.0 Lab, a leading research platform dedicated to advancing innovative and sustainable solutions for water management and smart agriculture.

During the visit, His Royal Highness was briefed by Dr. Qasem Abdelal on the Lab’s vision and its role in addressing growing challenges related to water scarcity and climate change. The Lab leverages advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, and intelligent systems to support evidence-based decision-making and improve the efficiency of water resource management.

His Royal Highness also explored the Lab’s locally developed systems for environmental monitoring, smart irrigation, and climate data collection, which are designed to strengthen national capabilities and promote applied research. In addition, the visit highlighted the Lab’s collaborations with national and international partners, contributing to the deployment of monitoring networks across the Kingdom and the development of integrated data platforms for sustainable planning.

As part of the visit, His Royal Highness was introduced to Nexus Nature, a startup incubated at GJU, which focuses on translating research outcomes into practical, market-ready solutions. The company develops affordable, sensor-based smart farming systems that monitor soil and environmental conditions and provide farmers with actionable insights to enhance productivity while optimizing water use.

This visit reflects His Royal Highness’s continued support for innovation and entrepreneurship, and his commitment to empowering academic institutions to develop sustainable solutions that address national and regional challenges in the water and agriculture sectors.
