The German Jordanian University (GJU) was honored by the visit of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, reflecting the continued Royal support for innovation, the advancement of scientific research, and youth empowerment in Jordan.
The visit included the Technology, Research, and Innovation Park (TRIP) at the university, a leading platform for promoting applied research and strengthening partnerships with the industrial and technological sectors, contributing to the translation of research outputs into practical applications that serve national development.
During the tour, His Royal Highness visited several specialized laboratories, including the Circular Economy Hub for Used Electric Vehicle Batteries (C-HUB) and the Energy, Power Electronics and Electrical Systems Lab (EPES), where a range of advanced research projects conducted by faculty members and students were showcased.
These projects focus on energy storage systems, power electronics, and their applications, given their pivotal role in supporting the transition toward more efficient and sustainable energy systems, as well as promoting the adoption of modern technological solutions in the energy sector.
Prof. Osama Saadeh, Dean of Scientific Research and Director of the EPES Lab, and Dr. Fadwa Dababneh, Dean of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship and Director of the C-HUB Lab, together with Eng. Qusai Gharaibeh, a GJU alumnus and project employee, presented an overview of several joint projects and research collaborations with industrial partners, including PowerID from Stuttgart, Germany, which focuses on developing advanced applications in energy storage and the reuse of electric vehicle batteries.
His Royal Highness also received a briefing on the university’s efforts to align scientific research with market needs and to develop innovative solutions that support the national economy, in addition to its role in preparing highly qualified young talent capable of competing in advanced technology fields.
This visit underscores the role of universities as key drivers of innovation, incubators of entrepreneurial ideas, and platforms for youth empowerment, in line with national aspirations toward a knowledge- and technology-based economy.
Through TRIP and its advanced research laboratories, GJU continues to strengthen its position as a leading academic institution in applied education and scientific research, while contributing to technological advancement in Jordan.
