The School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHSS) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a field trip to Wadi Al-Rayyan on Thursday, October 29, 2026, for students enrolled in the German for Tourism course, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gordon Mitchell. The trip was part of the school’s educational activities aimed at promoting experiential learning and connecting academic knowledge with practical experience.

The visit included a nature walk through the area and its orchards during the pomegranate season, as well as a visit to the historic Auda Watermill, where students learned about its traditional operation through an explanation provided by a member of the local community from Jdeita village. Students also had the opportunity to sample local cuisine and learn about the area’s agricultural heritage and cultural traditions.

The field trip aimed to provide students with first-hand exposure to the area’s natural, cultural, and historical heritage, while allowing them to apply their academic knowledge in an interactive learning environment beyond the classroom.

The activity reflects GJU’s commitment to promoting experiential learning, connecting academic knowledge with practical experiences, and familiarizing students with local heritage and community culture.
