Jordan University of Science and Technology 18 November 2024
In coordination with the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), a group of students participated in the launch event of the "Health Ambassadors Initiative" at the Jordan University of Science and Technology. This initiative is a partnership between the Jordan National Anti-Smoking Society and the Anti-Smoking Office at the King Hussein Cancer Center.
Following the event, a training workshop was held for students from various public and private universities. The workshop aimed to raise health awareness by disseminating accurate and reliable information about non-communicable diseases, their risk factors, and prevention methods through adopting healthy lifestyle practices.
It also included a brief presentation on the latest research findings from the King Hussein Cancer Center regarding the harms of electronic cigarettes and the impact of smoking and e-cigarettes on youth health.
At the end of the workshop, speakers, initiative organizers, and a number of students and staff who had successfully quit smoking at the Jordan University of Science and Technology were honored.
