Project Title:
Innovation Peer to Peer Electricity Sharing Towards the Development of Smart and Cooperative Microgrids
Funding Agency: Royal Academy of Engineering (UK)
Project Description:
This project aims to define the main characteristics of a new product that enables “peer-to-peer” electricity trading in urban neighbourhood areas, minimizes the need for energy storage systems, and reduces the overall electricity cost. Electricity sharing will allow us to overcome the intermittent character of renewable resources and avoid using energy storage systems. Finally, this project will enable the development of a framework to analyze the energy demands in neighbourhood areas and link them to variable electricity generation and demand.
This project is funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, under its program "Industry Academia Partnership" through the Newton Fund.
