The Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) and the (AEE GJU Student Chapter) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized the Innovative Energy Solutions Conference under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh. The conference was attended by a group of experts and specialists in the energy sector from within and outside Jordan, with the participation of 16 Jordanian universities.
The opening ceremony included remarks by His Excellency Minister Kharabsheh, in which he addressed the most significant challenges and problems facing the energy sector and the need to find innovative solutions, update the national strategy, and provide resources at the lowest cost. He also expressed his pride in and belief in the capabilities of national human resources, motivating students to work hard to translate ideas from the laboratory to real-world applications.
On the other hand, GJU’s Vice President for Academic Excellence, Dr. Iyas Khader, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Thelal Owies, emphasized the importance of enhancing attention in energy and providing appropriate platforms for students to contribute to generating ideas and innovating solutions to various challenges.
The first day of the two-day conference brought together a group of experts and specialists to discuss energy efficiency in Jordan. It also featured success stories of students who have made notable contributions in the energy sector.
On the second day, students were distributed into five specialized committees covering solar energy, wind energy, smart grids, air conditioning and ventilation, and transportation. This allowed them to explore the challenges specific to each sector, present projects, and develop innovative and practical recommendations and solutions for both the community and for improving the efficiency of systems.
