The German Jordaina University, through the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT) and the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE), participated in an international consolidated meeting for launching two projects titled "Digitalization of Cultural Heritage in Jordan" and "Project Innovation Hub (PIH) for Mena Crisis Region" that are funded by DAAD and coordinated by Technische Hochschule Brandenburg (THB) and managed by Prof. Julia Schnitzer.

During the meeting, participants discussed how cultural heritage can be digitally preserved and thus protected from destruction over time. Also, integrating joint, international research projects into local university structures and establishing a "Student Academy" within the framework of a distance learning platform.

 

The meeting hosted more than 50 participants from Germany and three Mediterranean countries (Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan). The German participants are affiliated with Technische Hochschule Brandenburg (THB), Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS), Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena (EAH), Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (H_DA). Meanwhile, the Mediterranean participants are from German-Jordanian University (GJU), Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Hashemite University (HU), University of Mosul, Tishk International University of Erbil, American University of Beirut, and Bait Al-Anbat (an NGO institution dedicated to Petra’s heritage).

It is worth mentioning that the GJU team involved in this project are Dr. Abdullah Alfarrarjeh, Dr. Dhiah Abou-Tair, Dr. Amani Abu Jabal.
