The German Jordanian University (GJU) and the National Library Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation between the two sides in areas of common interest.

The MoU was signed by GJU President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and the National Library Department Director General, Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasra.

The MoU specified to enhance existing cooperation between the two teams, exchange of information and experiences in documentation and training, the swap of publications, books, documents, and photos to develop documentary knowledge, and the preparation of various cultural activities.

It also included holding seminars, workshops, and conferences and providing the National Library with the university's archives of documents and photos to archive them in the library.

During the signing ceremony, Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that the university is working to develop and support frameworks for joint cooperation with public sector institutions in applying legislation related to preserving national, scientific, and cultural production, developing scientific research, applied education, leadership and innovation, and spreading awareness of the importance of copyright protection in the Kingdom.

For his part, Al-Ayasra summarized the duties and responsibilities of the National Library and its role in preserving the national memory, expressing his pride in this partnership and the library's readiness to train university library staff to qualify them in operations and file archiving.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice President, Prof. Malek Alsharairi, and the Director of the Library, Prof. Haytham Thawabih.
