On Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, the department of Architecture and Interior Architecture at the German Jordanian University (GJU), in coordination with the French Embassy in Jordan and the French Institute of the Near East (IFPO) hosted the “Sustainable Architecture Workshop: Alternative Solutions and Local Initiatives” at the German Lounge as part of the Environment and Climate Week activities.

The workshop was aimed at professionals, students, and the general public to increase awareness of alternative solutions and local initiatives for a sustainable architecture in Jordan. The workshop consisted of several presentations given by local experts on the definition of sustainable architecture and the challenges facing it in Jordan, as well as sharing examples of local projects built using traditional methods and materials.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Farah Alatrash from German Jordanian University (GJU), Arch. Emmanuelle Devaux from The French Institute of the Near East (Ifpo) and Mrs. Hania Haddad from the French embassy.
