Salt- 23 January 2025
Within the Arabic Language and Culture Program (ALC), the Hiking and Camping Club, under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Thelal Oweis, at the German Jordanian University (GJU), organized a trip for German students participating in the program to harvest olives in the Jordanian city of Salt.
The two-day trip aimed to introduce students to the Jordanian experience of the olive harvest season, guiding them through the various stages of the process, from harvesting the olives to pressing them and extracting the oil.
During the trip, students went for a hike where they enjoyed the breathtaking landscapes of the region. They also explored wildflowers and medicinal herbs while participating in activities designed to deepen their understanding of Jordanian culture, customs, and traditions.
These experiences included tasting local cuisine and Arabic sweets, engaging with the local community, and practicing Arabic in both its classical and colloquial forms.
