Project Description:

This project aims to enhance the quality and relevance of higher education in Palestine and Jordan by implementing the Bologna Process in selected academic programs within the colleges of science at participating universities.

Each partner university in Palestine and Jordan will identify one science program to be aligned with Bologna standards. This process includes the development of new curricula, the adoption of Bologna’s academic frameworks, and the creation of a supportive institutional environment that fosters sustainable academic reform in line with European higher education practices.

To ensure comprehensive and effective implementation, the project establishes a strategic partnership among:

  • Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Palestine, Jordan, and Europe
  • The Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research in both countries
  • National accreditation agencies
  • European universities with extensive experience in Bologna Process implementation

The project operates on three interconnected levels:

  1. Program-Level Development: Redesigning selected science programs in line with Bologna standards (e.g., learning outcomes, ECTS, quality assurance).
  2. Institutional Capacity Building: Establishing policies, structures, and practices within HEIs to sustain and expand Bologna-based reforms.
  3. National Alignment and Accreditation: Collaborating with national authorities to ensure compliance with and endorsement of Bologna-aligned programs and practices.

Ultimately, BASE seeks to enhance academic mobility, improve quality assurance, and increase employability of graduates, thereby contributing to the modernization and internationalization of higher education in the region.

This project is co-financed by European Union funds within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.
