Project Description:
This project is funded by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), in partnership with Technische Hochschule Köln, Germany.
The objective of this project is to build capacity by developing university curricula on land restoration to be included in agriculture, forestry and mining programs, globally, with a target of 1,000 universities and extension programs worldwide. The goal is to “hardwire land restoration into the curriculum of agriculture/forestry and mining programs so that future generations of agricultural scientists and experts are fully familiar with the science, technology and economics of land restoration and habitat conservation” (UNCCD,G20-GLI, 2023a: 23).
Under the leadership of the G20 GLI, this course is to be drafted by a core group of academics with broad geographic representation and a track record of cutting-edge research and education related to sustainable agriculture, SLM, innovation and teaching methods.
GJU's main role is to contribute key expertise in the development and refinement of agricultural courses and organizing a regional curriculum launching webinar.
