Project Title:
Exploring Climate-Smart Agriculture Approaches, Practices, and Technologies (CSA-PAT) Potentially Relevant and Applicable for Upgrading Irrigation Water Productivity and Protected Vegetable Production in Jordan, with Insights from Germany
Funding Agency: German Research Foundation (DFG)
Project Description: This project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), and in cooperation with Technische Hochschule Köln, aims to initiate a new bilateral research partnership focused on adapting and implementing climate-smart agriculture and water-efficient technologies (CSA-PAT) in Jordan. The key objectives are to:
- Observe and learn from successful German CSA-PAT models applicable to irrigation and protected vegetable production.
- Analyze Jordan’s local context, challenges, and opportunities for implementing these models.
- Engage multidisciplinary stakeholders to prioritize and develop a roadmap for applying suitable CSA-PAT solutions in Jordan.
- Conceptualize and prepare a joint research proposal to pilot and promote sustainable, water-efficient agricultural systems that enhance Jordan’s water and food security.
The project will establish the foundation for future research and strengthen international cooperation to address water-scarcity challenges in agriculture.
