Project Title:

C3WASH: Advancing Community-Centered Collaborative WASH Education

Funding Agency:  IHE Delft through Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Project Description:

The C3WASH (Community-Centered Collaborative Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) project aims to strengthen WASH education and capacity building in the MENA region through interdisciplinary, community-driven, and sustainability-focused approaches. The project will develop innovative postgraduate courses that integrate technical, social, environmental, and governance dimensions of WASH, equipping students and practitioners with the skills needed to address regional water and sanitation challenges.

Led by Birzeit University in partnership with IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, German Jordanian University, University of Balamand, and regional stakeholders, the project focuses on curriculum development, faculty and student exchanges, professional training for water and wastewater operators, and the creation of open-access learning resources.

Through workshops, mentoring, study visits, webinars, and collaborative learning activities, C3WASH promotes knowledge exchange between academia, policymakers, utilities, and communities. The project aims to enhance workforce skills, support inclusive and resilient WASH systems, and establish sustainable educational programs that address the needs of both academic institutions and water sector professionals across the region.
