Professional Training Certificate: Mental Health and Community Work

Program Description: 

The German Jordanian University (GJU) is introducing the Professional Training Certificate in Social Work: Mental Health and Community Work in Jordan, a specialized postgraduate program focused on mental health. Offered through GJU's Department of Social Work in collaboration with the Consultation and Training Center (CTC), the program integrates national, regional, and international perspectives. It aims to tackle pressing mental health challenges within the framework of ongoing social and socio-political transformations.

The German Jordanian University (GJU) is customizing and incorporating community-based psychosocial support materials into its educational offerings. As part of these efforts, the materials were integrated into the newly developed Professional Training Certificate: Mental Health and Community Work.

This certificate program provides a 10–15-week comprehensive training that includes four core courses and hands-on practical training, equipping participants with essential skills in mental health and community work.

Training Objectives:

• To promote awareness of mental health and the prevention of mental health disorders among practitioners, organizations, and communities.
• To provide knowledge and skills related to mental health to teachers, researchers, and community workers.
• To provide an in-depth overview of mental health problems within the context of culture and diversity.​
