Dr. Sari Sultan
Biography
Dr. Sari Sultan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the German Jordanian University (GJU), which he joined in 2026. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, his M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Kuwait University, and his B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the Hashemite University. He was awarded prestigious scholarships and fellowships during his graduate studies, including a University of Toronto Research Fellowship, the Edward S. Rogers Sr. ECE Department Student Fellowship, and the Kuwait University Excellence Graduate Scholarship.
His research spans system software, in-memory caching, storage systems for AI, and cybersecurity. His doctoral work introduced the first time-to-live (TTL)-aware cache modeling techniques, cutting memory requirements by 69% on average (up to 99%) without degrading performance, a reduction worth an estimated $4.4 million a year for an organization with about 50 cloud cache workloads. This work and related collaborations produced EuroSys and USENIX FAST publications, two U.S. patents as first inventor, and open-source tools that received the EuroSys 2024 Gilles Muller Best Artifact Award and were adopted by a major cloud provider. Before joining GJU, he worked at two multinational technology companies, most recently as a Senior AI Researcher in Canada and earlier as a payment software developer for banks across the MENA region. He also founded a software and cybersecurity startup, conducted security audits and penetration tests across academia and industry, and served on a digital forensics expert team for a court of law in the region. As an invited instructor, he has trained the court’s forensic experts and delivered cybersecurity training to professionals from diverse backgrounds. He obtained the Certified Ethical Hacker, Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator, and ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor certifications.
He has taught and assisted in courses in Canada, Kuwait, and Jordan, including Operating Systems, System Software, Computer Architecture, Advanced Computer Architecture, Programming Massively Parallel Multiprocessors & Heterogeneous Systems, Programming Fundamentals, Object-Oriented Programming, Algorithms, Computer Security, and Digital Forensics.
