FAQ
What is special about the hosted online programmes?
Online degree programmes are distance learning, but unlike many traditional programmes, ours provide direct contact with professors and peers online. Courses are organised in semesters and include weekly synchronous and asynchronous sessions, offering a structured yet flexible approach. You'll be part of an online community, progressing with fellow students. In our joint programmes with THWS, you gain additional benefits:
- Experience: Together GJU and THWS have over 70 years of experience in student success.
- Quality: Programmes meet high standards and use the latest teaching concepts.
- Practice-orientation: We focus on preparing students for professional practice.
Is THWS accredited?
Accreditation is a quality assurance process for degree programmes, examining specific courses, content, and processes. It signifies a programme's high quality. As a German state-recognised institution, THWS adheres to high standards, ensured through initial and regular re-accreditation of all programmes, for its on-campus as well as its online programmes.
How and when do the classes take place?
German classes are organised by GJU's German Language Center (GLC). Students beginning their Pre-Year in autumn 2025 or 2026 will attend 56 hours of live online classes per level. In order to ensure that students from different time zones can attend, two different time slots are offered.
Course times:
Level A1.1. (2x2hrs/week, plus 1hr of self-study):
Monday and Wednesday, 09:00 - 11:00 am (Jordanian time, UTC+3) OR
Monday and Wednesday, 07:00 - 09:00 pm (Jordanian time, UTC+3)
Levels A1.2 - B2.2 (3x3hrs/week):
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 08:30 - 11:30 am (Jordanian time, UTC+3) OR
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 07:00 - 10:00 pm (Jordanian time, UTC+3)
Students beginning their Pre-Year in autumn 2027 or later will attend a blended learning format.
How do I know if my qualification meets the requirements?
If you hold a qualification from outside the EU, you can check here whether your qualification meets the requirements to study at a German higher education institution on the German Academic Exchange Service’s database on admission requirements: https://www.daad.de/en/studying-in-germany/requirements/admission-database/.
If your qualification is not sufficient and the admissions database result is general admission to a preparatory course/the Feststellungsprüfung (university qualification exam), you have various options for obtaining the required qualification - one of them is our Online Pre-Year..
Do I have to complete my online degree programme within a certain period of time?
You can also exceed the standard period of study. Please note, however, that there are deadlines for taking exams and the maximum number of exam retakes is limited.
What are the tuition fees for the programme?
We value transparency, so our semester fees are simple, with no charges for examinations. Non-EU citizens pay EUR 1500 per semester, which includes a media fee,
student services fee, study fee, and service fee. We use the income from the service fee to realise various support offers and services during the course of your studies. Any potential costs for health insurance are not included.

Courses, including lab sessions, are entirely digital, so physical presence isn't required. The teaching concept includes primarily asynchronous core courses, allowing self-paced learning, and weekly synchronous events during lecture periods. Everything, including exams, is conducted online.
